Has Michael Crabtree come down a bit on his contract negotiations? Initial reports stated that Crabtree was asking for Top 3 money, despite being selected 10th overall. Now I’m hearing that he is asking for a contract similar to Darrius Heyward-Bey’s. Darrius signed a five-year contract at $38.25 million, $23.5 guaranteed.
Crabtree might be coming down a bit on his demands after feeling the heat from fans and teammates. He was recently called out by TE Vernon Davis. “He needs to get his butt in here,” Davis said. “He should take what he can get and get here.”
I expect to see Crabtree sign a deal following the San Francisco 49ers first preseason game on Friday.

I feel that you should be ashamed to be that greedy. I am a huge Red Raider fan and I have followed you very closely to be now very disappointed and ashamed. Sitting out the season will cost much more than the potential gain. What is lost this season is lost forever and there is absolutely no way to get it back. If you were to get hit by a bus or even step off a curb wrong the career will be over and the net result will be $0. Sign the contrat, spend the money wisely and invest and no matter what happends your life will be improved. As Steve Miller sang “Go on take the money run”. This hold out status continuing is crazy. Perfect opportunity to win 49er fans over by signing with enough time to get in sync with the SF offense. Wide Receiver rich draft next year combined with an exagerated attitude means that he’ll be LUCKY to get half to two-thirds the money next year that he can get now.
Michael, let’s get on board with the good deal being offered by SF and get to work. It’s time.

Hey SuperStar, My wife and I were injured in a motorcycle wreck and have been struggling with that and the bad economy so I didn’t want to buy my 49er season tickets which have been in our family for over 30 years. When they drafted you, my wife said that we had to buy them. Now it seems that we made a big mistake in doing that as all you seem to be interested in is the money. Your foot was broken so most teams passed on you. The 49ers believed that you were worth their 1st pick, a good decision on paper, but c’mon kid,get into camp now. The extra money you are going after will only be taxed to no end and your teammates, the 49er organization and most importantly we the fans (who pay you guys to wow us) are getting tired of these all about me types. We had the GOAT, then TO, now we have (???) a good team player would be a nice change of pace. What are you waiting for?

To think I was bragging about how lucky we were to have drafted Crabtree. Lucky!?!? This has gone on too long. You got family members and managers wanting their slice of the pie! You need to put on your big boy girdle and suit up….Remember this is the team that wanted you!!!! Even with the contract that is being offered, you will be getting paid a kings ransom to play a kids game. I remember watching as crabtree got selected, he didn’t look happy to be going to the 49ers. Maybe because so many other teams passed on him, including the raiders? Maybe because he wasn’t the first receiver? I personally think that he was trying so hard to smile and cover his disgust because he doesn’t want to play for the 49ers. I’m a 49er fan, but lets face it, our QB situation isn’t the best place for a receiver to go. I think he wants the 49ers to lose interest in him so he can play elsewhere, pull an “Eli Manning,” except in a more passive aggressive way.
I have been a die hard 49ers fan since i could throw a football around and understood the game at 4 years old. I followed Michael Crabtree through the two years at TT. The entire time he was a humble guy not in your face type of guy. I think it is wrong to judge him right now. I am sure the pressure he feels is quiet a lot and I am praying for him as he was the best draft pick in the entire group. I know that. The Brown’s coach should not have put his two cents worth into dogging him before the draft as it seems that didn’t help him in the least and it is simply NOT true about him. If he signs for less and he proves to you all he was worth the top 5 pick, it is too late isn’t it? Darrius got all that money and he sure as heck hasn’t proved anything at all and he was at camp and played. Was he worth the money? You have to see the big picture. Crabtree is worth it. The rumors are not true and I hope he wins a superbowl this year. How bout that?

I’m not a niner fan but the niners did take you, Mike, with the 10th pick. If they don’t take you then you are the 11th pick or even further down. So don’t disrespect the team that DID pick you, disrespect the first 9 teams who passed you up, by kicking their ass on the field.
Not everyone gets picked where they should in the draft. Some superstars go as late as the 7th round. Then they show they are worth much more and they get paid. You’re being offered a lot of money. You were picked 10th instead of 7th. Its not so far off that you need to be holding out. Go sign up and kick ass, I guarantee if you do you will be paid down the line.

I agree with Colbymon’s comments. Dont treat the 49ers bad because they actually LIKE you and think you ARE a great receiver. There choice of you says they are one of your fans. Put incentives in your contract to ensure you get paid well if you are as good as you think you are.
