The San Francisco 49ers co-owner Jed York has offered to meet face-to-face with unsigned first-round pick Michael Crabtree, but hasn’t had his phone calls returned by Crabtree’s agent, Eugene Parker. This whole situation is just a big joke. Why wouldn’t Crabtree even want to sit down with the owner to talk about his demands? This feels like a hostage negotiation with the 49ers willing to do their part, but Crabtree not budging.
We are now approaching Week 2 and Crabtree still is sitting at home watching all the games on TV. I hope to God he’s been working out and catching balls at some private camp or something to stay in shape. Even if he does get signed tomorrow, it would be weeks before he can suit up and play.
The 49ers gained some leverage last week though by beating the Arizona Cardinals. If they can prove they can win without him, then the value of that contract is going to keep going down.

I was happy when we drafted him, but after this, its apparent he doesnt want to play for the 9ers, even is they offered him a contract acceptable to him. If he doesnt wanna play for the 49ers then the 49ers dont wanna play with him
Crabtree needs to get rid of agent Eugene Parker; he may end up losing him millions. In fact the 49ner offer of 20 million for five years sounds great to me. By holding out Crabtree loses this year’s money and his value to other teams. No one wants to work with a player that doesn’t want to play. And why not play with the 49ners and get your value up and prove you’re worth the money and ask to be trader later. Let’s play some ball and fire the agent. Its football season people!

Crabtree can’t win at this point. If he signs now, he gets booed at home, if he waits until next year, he has to work his ass off to prove he didn’t fade in the year. The team looks pretty good without him, but it sucks to have wasted a #10 pick on a guy who isn’t in uniform. The upcoming class doesn’t look loaded with receiver prospects, but he’s going to have to hit every single combine to show he didn’t get rusty in the year off. I hope he gets humble somewhere in the next couple of weeks, signs for a decent amount, apologizes for the holdout then just keeps his mouth shut and catches some passes. Prove he’s worth whatever he makes. If he rolls into next year, it’s going to be tough for a team to take him seriously and sign him higher than #10.

From what I’ve heard he wouldn’t even be allowed to do any combine because the 9ers have his rights up until draft day and hes not allowed to work out with anyone other than the team.
